What is Tiny Hands Jewelry?

Tiny Hands Jewelry is a line of super cute, scented food jewelry that is handmade from scratch in the USA! These miniature jewelry pieces are modeled after America’s favorite sweet treats, and they smell like what they look like! We have pieces such as breakfast waffles, pancakes, cupcakes, donuts, and more! We also have a few savory food designs like pizza and bacon – how could we not?

How was Tiny Hands started?

Mei started Tiny Hands Jewelry in high school without any formal art or business training. Although she didn’t have any training, Mei found she had a real passion for hands-on creation. Her designs are inspired by the love of miniature food toys she had as a child (and by her love of real food as an adult!), and once she learned about polymer clay, Tiny Hands was truly born. She became obsessed with making scented food jewelry!

Having never done anything creative with her hands before (unless you count finger painting), Mei spent countless hours learning, practicing, and perfecting her craft.

Tiny Hands started as a hobby, but quickly became Mei’s main focus. While studying for her calculus exams, she found herself wishing she could spend her time learning about liquid polymer techniques that would help her make the most realistic cupcake frosting.

Thankfully for Tiny Hands, no one hired Mei in her field of study after graduating with her actuarial science degree, so she decided to dedicate herself to her first real love and pursue her jewelry business full time.

After a few years of failure after failure, the constant nagging of “when will you get a real job,” and having to rely on her own belief in herself, Mei finally had a breakthrough! The press took an interest in Tiny Hands, and it started to really take off.

Amy Poehler wore Mei’s waffle necklace on an episode of Parks and Recreation (Ben gifted the necklace to Leslie on Valentine’s Day), singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez is an avid fan of Mei’s jewelry, and Tiny Hands has been featured in numerous magazines and websites like Every day with Rachael Ray, ABC’s The Chew, InTouch, Girl’s Life, Huffington Post, Daily Herald, and more.

Those hundreds of hours of work and thousands of dollars of investment finally paid off.

How is it made?

Mei spends dozens of hours to design each piece, making sure they look just like the real thing! Her small US based team of 5 now help her craft the jewelry and fulfill orders. They ship hundreds of pieces every month to kids and grown-ups alike.

She and the team are careful to source the most realistic fragrances to match the design – they’re so realistic, we’ve even fooled our pets!
